Planning a Private Villa Vacation in Casa de Campo

The Basics

Feel free to chat live with our agents and discuss the vast array of different villas we offer in Casa de Campo. There is no 'one-size-fits-all' when it comes to vacation homes and we probably have something perfect no matter your preferred style of vacation.

Many of our homes come with games rooms, pool tables, media rooms, and even some with basketball courts and other fun in-house activities great for bonding with family or friends.

Feel free to browse all listings here, or alternatively email our reservations team info@casadecampo.travel for personalized travel planning.

Many villas include a full staff including cook, serving, and housekeeping staff. Cooks prepare meals according to your dietary preferences and you simply cover the cost of grocery bills.

After finding and securing your dream villa, our team will then help you with pre-trip planning including airport transfers, grocery pre-stocking, car rentals, or anything else that you require for the stay.

We can help you as well book golf tee-off times, restaurant reservations , horse back riding, boat charters, ATV Tours, and many other activities and excursions in the La Romana area. There are as well a number of world-class golf courses and attractions in the Punta Cana Resort area which is a one-hour drive north.

Resort Fee

Casa de Campo has a guest membership fee required to access all amenities and services. The resort fee includes access to the equestrian centre, shooting centre, tennis courts, spa, three (3) golf courses, fitness centre and special rates, towels and chaise lounges at the main hotel pool and Minitas Beach club, as well as many other discounts, special offers, and promotions for private villa guests.

The rate is $20 USD/ day for adults (anyone over the age of 15). Children ages 10-15 are $10 USD/day and children under 10 do not require resort registration.

Weather

The south of the Dominican Republic enjoys typical Caribbean weather with year-round average highs of 29° (85° F). The rainy "hurricane" season is from approximately May-September. This is a great time of the year to take advantage of low-season rates and a typical 'rainy' day in the tropics does not last long (as soon as the sun comes back out, the rain dries up in ten minutes). We suggest you bring extra sunscreen as the sun is much more powerful this close to the equator and it's important to always stay protected!

Currency

The currency of the Dominican Republic is the Peso although US Dollars are accepted widely and most establishments in the area accept major credit cards. For groceries and staff tip please be prepared to pay in cash (USD or peso), or we can arrange you pre-pay a grocery deposit which the staff can use to pay for groceries during the stay.

Travel

Tourism is one of the leading industries in the La Romana area and Casa de Campo is becoming a more popular destination for travellers year over year. The nearest airport destination is (LRM), La Romana International airport which is a 5 minute drive from the main entrance to the resort. This airport has many direct flights from the US and offers the best direct route for private jet and charters. Punta Cana International (PUJ) is just an hour transfer and is the next most convenient way to get to Casa de Campo. Punta Cana airport receives over 7.5 million travellers year with flights from 26 countries.

Check-in and Check-out Times

Check-in time is 3:00pm at most villas check out time is 11:00am-12noon. Please check with us when you have selected your villa and we will let you know what the house policy is. Generally if no guests are checked in at the property before or after your stay check in times can be flexible depending on what you need to arrive or depart.

Electricity

Current is the same as in the US and Canada: 110V so anyone coming from these areas will not require any converters for electronics. Most villas do come handy with iPod docks, hair dryers, and many other essential electronics. If you want to know the specific amenities in one of the houses please check out the property listing or inquire with our team!

Telephone

Many major cellular providers offer 'roam like home' plans in the Dominican Republic so you can use your text and data for an extra fee. If you are staying for a longer period you can get a Dominican SIM card/cell phone for better rates. Most of the villas come with landlines and you can make international calls for free (or some charge small additional fees).

Internet

All of the villas and condos on our site have complimentary high-speed wireless internet access. Bring your laptops, tablets, and electronics! Please however warn the kids that the internet in the Caribbean does not yet have the same infrastructure so bandwidth for services like streaming is not the same as back 'home'. While the internet is great for surfing the web, answering emails, etc. if the entire family is all trying to stream Netflix or Youtube it may strain the system.

Ground Transportation

We recommend our team of friendly drivers for excursions outside of the resort and airport transfers. The most convenient and popular way to get around within the resort area is by golf cart or car. Our team can help you arrange any transport requirements that you have for the stay.

Payment and Cancellation

A 50% deposit confirms a reservation. Balance is due 60 days before your travel date. No refunds are made for cancellations so we strongly recommend each and every group purchase trip cancellation insurance for any unforeseen events. Many properties also

Our Insider Tips

  • Remember your passports! Every passenger must present a valid passport upon entry to the Dominican Republic
  • Take drivers license or other piece of ID, you may be required this to use your credit card for purchases during the stay
  • Travelling for the holidays? Book ahead for Christmas, New Years, Easter, Holy, or Thanksgiving periods
  • Bring cash before the stay - ATM fees in the Dominican Republic can be expensive so we recommend you plan and bring as much cash as you can from your home country to avoid fees. Most villas have safes where you can store valuables during the stay.
  • For fully staffed villas, we suggest you budget $10-15 USD/person/day for total staff tip. This amount can be paid directly to the staff at the end of the stay in cash.
